I am having a bit of trouble getting the chorus chord progression down. I seem to hear a minor in it but can't find it.

Any help on the chords would be appreciated.

Tim..Im not sure what version you are learning from but I dont think it orginally had a minor chord in it...straight 1-3-5 but in various progressions....

3 Major, or a 3 Minor? #Isn't a 3 typically a minor unless otherwise noted?

I don't think that is it. I am trying to work it out on guitar and the version i got is a live recording he does it in D. So I am capo'd up on the second fret playing in C position. The three chord would be E major. That just doesnt sound quite right.

Tim...Is this the song that Monroe had out? If so, the chorus is 5 chord then 3 and back to the 1..."And when the (5) leaves start to (3) fall in autum(1), and the (5) rain starts to (3)drip from the trees(1), there`s an old old man who (3) walks in the garden and his (1) head is (5) bowed in memory.(1)"..At least thats the way I hear it...Good luck....Willie
