Downloaded my first Dead Show Podcast last night and it just happened to be an acoustic set including Grisman. Some pretty cool stuff for you Dead/Grisman fans.

"Dec. 8th, 1991 at the Warfield in San Francisco, set 1.....

Shady Grove, Sitting In Limbo, Rosa Lee McFall, So What, I Ain't Never Seen Nobody Like You, The Thrill Is Gone, Dawg's Waltz, Dreadful Wind and Rain, Arabia"

Nice! Thanks for the heads-up. I'm streaming the 9/5/99 Strawberry Mountain session (Bela Fleck, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas and others) so I'll cue that up next.

Bummer about all the Dead SBDs being pulled from Archive.org...

Dang! this is nice, thanks! I bookmarked the RSS feed so i can find out when there is new stuff to listen to.

Why does that guy want a golden banjo string, though? I don't get that. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

They close the 2nd set of all 3 of those shows (12/7-9/91) with God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. All 3 are available off Bluegrassbox.

Gary:

Would you help this ipod newbie through the steps? I tried to download several ways, and either itunes didn't recognize and record it, or my windows player played it, or if I went through the itunes store it said was not a valid podcast site. Thanks much

Richard

Richard,

I'm not sure what the problem could be. I suppose making sure you have the latest version of iTunes would be a good start. I simply went thru the iTunes store, found The Dead Show Podcast, subscribed to it and it downloaded automatically for me.

Have you tried to get it from here....http://henriksonj.no-ip.info/deadpod112505.mp3

Sorry, I'm not much help http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Gary,

I tried that a few days ago..., itunes store said "not a valid ipodcast site"...maybe it had been taken down due to the recent flap and is now back up, for now...I'll try again, thanks.

I downloaded the latest version of iTunes. Typing in the URL for the deadshow blogspot didn't work. You have to subscribe to it through the iTunes music store. Do a search for "dead podcast" and you can find it that way. Thanks for the heads up on this!

Yep, that's it. I didn't realize the link to the blog website was confusing. I added the link to that site for info on the show and previous shows. It also says where you can find previous Dead Show Podcasts.

BTW... I just finished stripping "Oh, The Wind and Rain" out of that Podcast and made an .mp3 using Audacity. Very cool, very easy, very cheap.... well, it is if you have an iPod already. :-)

Gawd... gotta love Bluegrassbox... if you can find the stuff in there...

This show is in the following directories:

Disk 1:
/bluegrass/jg+dg1991-12-08.shnf/jg+dg1991-12-08d1/
Disk 2:
/bluegrass/jg+dg1991-12-08.shnf/jg+dg1991-12-08d2/

And here's a link to the set list (http://www.bluegrassbox.com/bgb-contents/bluegrass/jg+dg1991-12-08.shnf/jg+dg1991-12-08.txt).

I'm not complaining, by the way! Free is free, and i'm very happy it's there. I'll jump through the necessary hoops to get to it.

I got the Dec 8 show now, in CD and MD. I didn't see the other 2 at BGB, but i didn't look too hard for them.

I don't own the Grateful Dawg DVD; does anyone know if the God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen in this show is the one that was picked for the DVD?

The second half of the Garcia/Grisman 12/91 concert is available now (http://deadshow.blogspot.com/2005/12/dead-showpodcast-for-122305.html). There are some other fun things thrown in for kicks. This is a beautiful show; the whole thing is available from Bluegrassbox.

Yep, saw that today. I've made it a habit to check that website every week to see if I want to download the podcast.

I'll have to fire up iTunes tonight!!
