I don't know if you know, Cumin, but Dounis was also a famous mandolinist in his day. Click here (http://www.mandolincafe.net/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=6;t=29063) for a brief discussion. You can download a recording of Dounis himself here (http://cylinders.library.ucsb.edu/search.php?queryType=@attr%201=1016&query=mandolin&num=1&start=9&sortBy=&sortOrder=ia).

Yes, those are the exercises I referred to in that large book mentioned in this thread (http://www.mandolincafe.net/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=6;t=29063;). They are very similar to some finger strengthening exercises that Carlo Aonzo put us thru in his workshops.

Thanks for the link to the other discussion!

Is it just me or does this link not work?
Here (http://www.jsbworkshop.net/index.php/weblog/C9/) is the page leading to the Dounis material. I couldn't get to the PDF either; perhaps there is lilmit to the number of people abel to download at once.
