Hi,
I'm a spanish mandolinista, and I got troubles with some english terms. What does it mean "pac-rim"?
I've read this word several times here and others forums, and I got no idea of the meaning.

Thanks, amigos.

Pac rim or Pacific rim refers to Asian made products.

Even though California is on the Pacific Rim? And Beijing isn't (it is inland).

I guess Asia is the rim and California is the bottom of the bucket...

Its the container seaports for the most part;
Singapore,Hong Kong, Shanghai, going
to Oakland, Long Beach or Tacoma.
I rarely see much but bulk carriers on the Columbia,
more Cars in, grain and raw logs out.

Gilchrist mandolins are considered Pac-Rim right?

So ... Larrivee's California made instruments are 'officially' Pac-Rim Imports?

Steve's got a real point there. The way we (I) often use the term is in truth innacurate, and geography is rarely the point being made anyways. Something to think about.

Pacific Rim Tonewoods in Concrete, Washington--the largest supplier of guitar tops that I know of in the world--would beg to differ... http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
