Hey Guys,
Saw this on ebay and was intrigued. Have you guys ever seen one like it. Seems pretty reasonable for a unique mandolin. I really dig the headstock. I agree with racuda that there is absolutely nothing to indicate that this is a Martin. Maybe the first name of he guy who built it was Martin, but I suspect that's as close as it gets. I suppose anything is possible but I can't envision any scenario that would have this instrument coming out of the Martin factory in the 1920s. Especially at that time, the company was notoriously conservative. I just can't imagine their producing anything like this and it certainly isn't documented that I'm aware of. If a flowerpot doesn't make a mandolin a Gibson, than, for sure, a piece of paper stuck on the headstock doesn't make one a Martin. Besides, Martin didn't have paper labels in its mandolins in the 1920s -- it had a name stamp on the back of the headstock and burnt into the back brace.
