If you are interested in driving up to Clarkesville, I know a guy who gives lessons. Really talented young man. He gives lessons on Saturday mornings. Send a PM and I can get you intouch with him.

There are a few regular jams in and around the Ringgold, GA area. That's "way" North GA, but you asked http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I know there is a very active mandolin community in Atlanta too, including several guys post here or used to.

I ve been to Everett's many a time. The best is to get there early and go in the house to hear the warm-up. The acoustics are good in the small room and the musicianship is top-notch to watch up close. Another great spot is at "Mitch Simpson's" Universal Chevrolet in Cleveland, Georgia. Mitch is a excellent mandolinist who books bands that just so happen to have GREAT !! mandolinist in thier line up. I can't begin to mention all the unbelievable musicians he has exposed me to and I've only been 6 or 7 times. All free except for the North Georgia Blugrass festival he has in July. Last year it was once a month 3rd friday April through October I think. Well worth the trip and there is camping close by. Check it out!

I know Mitch well. I get over there quite often. I am not far away from there at all, about 25 minutes.

I am in Kennesaw and am fairly new to Mandolin but I try when I have the time.
I have bought a couple of Mandolin methods and know a few tunes.
Looking forward to the Acworth Opry Concerts but particularly the Jam sessions.
Any of you plan on visiting for the Acwoth Opry season?

Established bluegrass band in the North Atlanta - Cobb County/Marietta Area is looking for Upbeat/dedicated Tenor singer that can play Mandolin/Fiddle. We focus heavily on harmony. We practice once each week and will be performing on a regular basis as well. Our current Band Member (Mandolin Player) is incredible, but he is leaving to pursue a wonderful career opportunity out of state (Vermont). He is committed to performing our current gigs, but we need to find someone to come in an begin learning the material as he will be leaving by July 1st 2006
