Please forgive as I detest blowin' my own horn here, but for the benefit of those on my list, here is recently completed F4 hybrid,,, varnished with an engleman top and wonderful James tailpiece.

A really beautiful instrument. You shouldn't detest blowing your own horn. If not your own, whose are you going to blow? At the least, blow your own mouthpiece, even if you borrow someone else's horn. You should show us ALL your new instruments.

"that is a wonderful f4 nice job on the finish that light burst came out great and i love the binding. hows she sound?"

John: With cross-bracing and the F5 (longer) neck (the bridge sits more centered on the top plate) it's quite a bit louder than most F4's. I like the overtones, and the open "G" jumps out. I't a hoot to play and I highly recommend them (any).

What I like (as if it matters)
Long neck, classic finish, block inlays (says "JAZZ"), binding, one piece back ... and on and on
What I don't like ... the blanket!
Almost makes me wish that my son would take a year off from college.

I played one of Bob's F4's at Darrington this year, and my friend Robin owns a F5 of his as well. If this one sounds anything like that F4 I played, somebody will be a very happy customer. It had the tone, the playability, and the fit and finish.

Bob, have you finished Mike Lukas' F5 yet? I remember him talking about ordering one from you. You going to be at wintergrass this year?

Yes, if it's anything like the one you had at Darrington - it's a killer. That color makes me hungry!

Very nice Bob, I've always liked Tortoise binding and I love the color with that binding combination. Hard to tell but is it .020Black/.060Ivoroid/.070Tortoise?

Bill: The ribs, peghead and fretboard (& sides et all)are .020Bl/.020Iv/Tor and top/back are .020Bl/.040Iv/.060Tor.

Patrick: Mike's mando is finished and waiting here to be taken home. I'd post a pic but I'll let him show you down the road...it is quite unique.....

That's beautiful, Bob. And your F5 on this year's mandotasting CD was one of my favorites too. Did you used to live in Walnut Creek?

Bob, Are you related to any of these other Schneider gentlemen; Paul of Summit Mandolins and Joe of Weber Mandolins (STE)? If so, there must be some real strong genes other than Levis (jeans)! Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Bob - I live in W.C. and came across one of your early mandos at a jam. I asked about the builder and the owner said you lived in town, so I tried to look you up, but apparently you had just moved.
