I've always associated Hank Sr. writing the "Alabama Waltz". Is that true? Didn't Monroe do it, too? Or, was it a trad. tune w/new words applied? Who else did it?

Great tune and song. I like playing it on anything: guitar, mando, or fiddle. Nice song to sing, too. I like doing it in D. And, being from 'Bama originally, it's near to my heart:

"I was sad and blue. I was downhearted, too.
it seemed like the whole world was lost
then I took a chance, and we happened to dance
to the tune of the Alabama Waltz

Waltz, Waltz, the Alabama Waltz
there all my cares and fears were lost
there in your arms, through all of your charms
we danced to the Alabama Waltz."

Monroe recorded it; Williams wrote it.
