OK I am using violin and mando, going through a tone bone, things were good with the piezo on the rigel and barcu berry on the fiddle, I have changed over to the meyers featherweight mic, now the tow pickups are not compatible through the tone bone , I use a fishman amp that is fed from the tonebone. Using the g10s for the wireless for both instruments, so I am figuring going from the g102 to the eq to the tonebone. thanks for the replies kevin

Try going from the G10 to the board without the EQ and especially without the tone bone. The input of the tone bone is 10M, it is designed for a piezo. The Myers is 2.2k it will go nicely into the board, or the G10, and you can use the EQ on the channel, shouldn't need much more.

A really good EQ needs a robust power supply for ultra high headroom and a low noise floor. The very good ones tend to have AC cords, which kind of defeat the purpose. So anything running on phantom or 9v power is a compromise. We are being ultra picky here, but a Boss unit is quite noisy.

the tone bone also has a switch to piezo or not, but the mic works much better with the piezo on, the signal is too weak without, the mic sounds great with the eq I have on the tonebone, but the mando needs more bass, maybe mids, so that is why I need the extra eq for the mando. thanks.

If you have enough volume another way to increase bass is to turn down mids and highs. Usually an impedance mismatch robs the bass.

thanks, the problem is I can get either the mando or the fiddle to sound great, but they need different eq, the tonebone only has one circuit for eq, on the other hand it looks like I won't be playing out for quite a while now as all things are closed.

The Source Audio programmable EQ pedal is handy for multi instruments since it has 4 presets and gain adjustment. It makes switching instruments onstage very easy.

mine is silent, and I don't play grunge. (I can, but I don't)

I use the WMD Utility Parametric EQ which is small, sounds amazing and has more control that most rack units but if you want a graph with multiple profiles that you can load then the new Boss EQ-200 is pretty awesome. Boss's new pedals in the 500 and 200 series are very low noise and high resolution. I have the rv-500 and it doesn't leave my live board.

I've got quite a few. They all do something different:

Fishman Aura Spectrum: the eq section on this is well voiced and you can do notch filtering but it's automatic. This is a really great DI too, decent basic compression, I don't rate the tuner, but very much recommended.

Boss GE7 - I love this for a boost pedal but not so much for tone shaping. It's quite noisy.

Boss PQ-3B - now discontinued but very decent para eq. Quite fiddly due to tiny dual concentric controls.

Caline 10 band - does a reasonably good job. Pretty flimsy, but nice red lights all over it!

Empress Para eq - very versatile, really quiet, top quality. Good boost built in too. That said, I hardly ever use it as it's pretty big.

That's my experience with an Eastman 515 / Fishman Bridge Pickup. I've had similar experience with my guitar which has a Fishman Rare Earth humbucker, so I think the eqs should do similar on different instruments.

As always though, you really need to try things out. That's how I've ended up with so many - not much in the way of specialist music electronics shops in the Orkney Isles, so if I want to try I have to buy! Guess we're all pretty isolated these days though.
