Anybody play any Alice Cooper songs on the mando? I've been playing balled of a Dwight Fry (egdc) and am looking for chords to play others, from the 1st 6 or so albums. the rock sites only have guiter or bass tabs. song books are way out of print

thanks

Never played any, but though I'm a classically trained musician I am also a closet AC fan. Just don't tell anybody who knows me #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

BTW, have tyou tried locating some of the out-of-print song books through BookFinder.com (http://www.bookfinder.com/)? Great place to find all sorts of OOP material.

"School's Out"

"Under My Wheels" and "Killer" would probably be good choices. Pair the latter with "Riders On The Storm" since Alice is doing a pretty good Jim Morrison impression on it.

Niles would you mind posting a few tips on playing schools out.ie. key, positions used, arrangement ideas. Do you play it on electric or acoustic mando?
Thanks

Here's the main riff in E (Em), which is where Alice does it.

<span style='font-family:courier'>====================&#124;=====================&#124;=
======4=========2===&#124;=====4=2=============&#124;=
==2=2=7=====2=2=5===&#124;=2=2=7=9======2^0====&#124;==
==4=4=9=====4=4=7===&#124;=4=4=9=7==========4==&#124;=</span>

On the triplestops, you may find it "easier" using an alternate 'stretch' fingering (r-m-i = 3 2 1) rather than the more convention p-r-i (4 3 1).

(I've been using (more ferquently) #i-m-r-p for LH fingering to keep it different and distinguishable from fret numbers, or string numbers, or roman numeral numbers (progressions), especially when calling out this stuff vocally.)
p-pinky (4)
r-ring (3)
m-middle (2)
i-index (1)

Thanks! I`ve been wanting to learn that riff for 30 years.

"Second Coming" from Love it To Death has been a real earworm for me lately. Sometimes the only cure is to learn it.

Gosh "Second Coming" and "Ballad of Dwight Frye" were two of my faves. Hard to remember what they even sound like now. "I've got to get ... out of here". Somewhere I had an AC guitar book and learned these like 30 years ago. I wouldn't know where to begin now.

I guess you could do "Only Women Bleed" as a folky ballad on my pretty easy as it is pretty much ... a folky ballad.

Try this one. #It's too cool. #If unreadable cut and paste in into a test editor (M/S Word) and set the font to "courior new"

Hot Damn!

Wow, I thought I was the only mandolin player working on this stuff, ok so I didn't think I was the only one 'cause I know who Niles is http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I've been trying to get "Welcome to my Nightmare" down but the lick doesn't translate easily. I'm hoping to make it into a gothic country romp... with a kicka** mando solo (once upon a time a violin).

Cool beans guys...

Dave
