I was in a local store the other day and saw an epiphone mandobird. Pretty neat. Got me thinking about having some fun with my electric guitar playing daughter. But I know nothing about electrics. So here are some questions:

Four, five or eight strings? I would imagine you can do more (like bend strings) without pairs? For blues etc.

A solid body or a regular mando with a pickup? I think I'd like a true electric sound.

Decent (but not expensive brands)?

Looks? I frankly think the ones that look like mini Fender or Gibson electrics are fun.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The Blue Satr MandoBlaster is well worth the money. Mandobirds seem inconsistent, you may find it needs $work to make it playable for you. An all-tube amp, even the rectifier, will help an emando immensely.

Roll on down to the bottom of the page and read some of the posts in the Four and Five String electrics category.
