Finished my first mandolin build a little less than a week ago. Have been playing my fingers off since.
This started as an IV A-style kit. I ended up re-working almost every aspect of the kit. I used medium Stew-mac frets, and celluloid tortoise binding. I added an ebony headstock overlay in which I inlaid my name in MOP. Rubner tuners and a Cumberland Acoustic bridge help keep it in tune and ensure good tone.
Finished it with aniline dyes and Mohawk Nitro lacquer.
I love playing it as it sounds stronger/louder and more vibrant than anything I own or that I've played lately.
Hope you like the photos. (Cannot understand the portrait orientation, they're right side up on my computer...)
