The best dam 3-day picking party in the West happens this weekend, August 12-14.
From Salt Lake, take I-80 eastbound. Get off at the Wanship exit (about a 30-minute drive). Take a right, go up the hill a little ways, and look for the road on the left that goes down to a camping area right below the dam.
Camping is only 2 bucks per night (no hookups). Jamming all day and all night is free. There's also nearby fishing, boating, hiking, etc.
No formal performances--this is a jam, not a bluegrass festival--but a lot of people come up just to listen. I look forward all year to the Dam Jam. Highly recommended!
