stop the flop on TKL zero gravity case

I had been using a Travelite for my F model for a few years but was always dissatisfied with lack of storage space. It seems my wife heard me complain one time too many, and surprised me with a TKL Zero Gravity case at Merlefest last spring. The Zero Gravity cases have a nice outside pocket, but flop over when the mandolin is taken out. This week I backed the screws out that hold the lining on the bottom front of case, got the jar my spare change goes in, and dropped pennies in till the case no longer flopped over. There is probably an extra pound or so of weight, but the case is so light that it is fine by me. Grrr--how hard would it be for TKL to add enough weight to keep the case stable when open?

Add a little longer ribbon joining the bottom and top, across the hinge ? or does it fall over bottom side up?

On my old Mandolin cases, that ribbon went long ago, so the hinge lets the lid open 180 degrees..

I always close my case after taking the instrument out so this would not be a problem for me. Nice solution for a problem that annoyed you tho.

It was annoying if you had the mandolin in one hand and trying to get something out of inner pocket with the other.

Grrr--how hard would it be for TKL to add enough weight to keep the case stable when open?Then they'd have people complaining about their decision to make the case "unnecessarily heavy" or some such. I like a good product, but I'm not averse to some user modifications that make it more suited to a particular application. Apparently neither are you. And the cost was only $1.80, or less if you had some of older, heavier copper pennies. :-)
