Hello all,
I’m looking for a source for a quality wood mandolin strap button with with MOP top or solid wood (no screw head showing).
Thanks in advance!

An ebony one can be made from an ebony guitar/mandolin end pin . Just drill a hole through it for a #6 screw , countersink for a black head screw (Or paint head black). Cut the taper part off of the end pin. Mount on instrument and if desired make up a little tight fitting plug of MOP, Abalone, ebony to fit into the countersink to cover the screw head.

Gryphon Strings has a selection of real beauties, but they are expensive. Multiple wood types and some plain, some fancy. But it made my Silverangel look like it had always been there, that and the Bailey strap hanging on it.

Mine will be going on a Silverangel as well!

The company that makes the buttons in the links above is Iluak Ivory.

They make very nice, high quality buttons. If you install one of theirs, be sure to use the tap they provide.
I had a buddy install one and he used a drill bit and not the tap. He ended up stripping the button off the post when he was tightening it into place.

Iluak makes lovely buttons in a variety of different woods and finishes. Nice leather washer. Has abalone or MOP dots available as an added ornamentation if you like. No screw shows on either the plain or decorated ones. Set comes with tapping tool. I have used the plainer ones as well as the fancy ones with the dot and they are both sweet and I was able to get a wood finish that matched my instruments nicely. They are a really well crafted product and I think they blow away metal buttons.
