"Szła dzieweczka do laseczka" (A Young Girl Went To The Forest)
Traditional wedding song from Upper Silesia

This is a setting of a popular Polish folksong, arranged for mandolin orchestra by an unknown (to me) Japanese arranger, from the Nakano archive (see attached). I have played the arrangement on two mandolins, mandola, tenor guitar and two mandocellos (second mandocello standing in for double bass).

This is a lively tune, typically played and sung at a very brisk mazurka tempo. This arrangement is too dense to be played at that tempo, so I have slowed it down a little.

1890s Umberto Ceccherini mandolin
Mid-Missouri M-0W mandolin
Mid-Missouri M-111 octave mandolin
Vintage Viaten tenor guitar
Suzuki MC-815 mandocello

I really like this song so I searched for sheet music that I could play in a simple mandolin/guitar setting.
I found a melody with guitar chords version at abcnotation com: http://abcnotation.com/tunePage?a=trillian.mit.edu/~jc/music/abc/Contra/KC/waltz/SzlaDzieweczka_D_2V/0000
I arranged it for fingerpicked steel string guitar and mandolin:

Thanks Martin for letting us know music, we otherwise would never hear!
