Temperance or St. Anne's Reel are good. Pretty sure they can both be found at co-mando.com.

Both of jamman's suggestions are in the mandolincafe tab archive ... go to www.mandolincafe.com/tabarc.html

I don't think you can go past "Soldier's Joy" for a beginners reel. First page of Kerr's Merry Melodies, book 1. And sure to be on the tab here.

woodchopper's reel is great fun and a good intro to triplets, IMO of course.

I started with "Maid behind the bar", it was great to start with. But I guess it depends on what your previous experiences of mandolin playing is. I had played a few easy standard bluegrass tunes before (like Soldier's joy, Redhaired boy, etc).

Anyone know of an easy starter version of St. Anne's Reel? I have a few slow-down programs, would prefer a tabledit file tho.
I need to take this nice and slow, but really can't locate a simple version to listen to. Printed the tab from here, I think I can do it by ear easier, using tabledit.
The co-mando versions are intermediate to advanced.
Thx a bunch!

I have to put in a word for "the Star of Munster" as a reel where you can practice the flow...and to point out that "Soldier's Joy" is a hornpipe.(great tune for starting out, though)
