Not the mando bass player though...:;):

The UoI has a ton of great pictures of old instrumental groups on their site - truly fascinating stuff.

I wonder about that mandobass. It's not a two-point, clearly, and it's not a Gibson. It looks to have a cant in the top, and a bridge sitting behind it. Vega?

Yeah, that's why I put the "?" in the post..

Though there is an archtop Washburn mandobass that has the same headstock and tailpiece (the one from the archives is definitely bent-top). Oh well. I'm not sure about the drums or piano either.. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

That mandobass might be a Stahl (Larson-made). I am away from my computer at the moment but can check when i get home and power is back on (short but intense storm knocked out our power until about 6pm tonight).

Leland also had a mandobass in their line tho I think it looked different -- I am sure that Keef would have mentioned it.

Love that pic tho.

Jim's right - it's a Stahl. There's an identical one (perhaps the same one) pictured in Hartman's Larson Creations book. Well, every one's a Chicagoan, at least! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blues.gif
