I realize that it’s probably not anything that will likely happen, but goodness, how cool would it be to see the DGQ do a tour with that lineup?!? If they were anywhere within reasonable driving distance (4 hours?), I’d sure enough be there!

Lordy! This is too good for words! What a treat it would be to see live.

Great to see David playing his old Fern again... what a great sounding instrument!

His master's voice... ;)

Not sure who is playing the guitar, but I note that it is a Tony Rice model from Santa Cruz.

Looks like Wyatt Rice.

Oh my word, that DGQ stuff sounds just as fresh now as it did when they (we) were all kids . . . LOVE this lineup!!!

It's just utterly wonderful to see these guys still play so well and to hear this stuff again.

Wyatt Rice was on guitar. I was there and it was a great set!

I'd already heard great things about these sets from folks who were there, and I love getting to see the videos.

That said, I'm going to be greedy, and say I would really wish that a great reunion like this could be recorded via the microphones on stage rather than through the PA. And YouTube's 'image stabilization' while trippy the first time you see it, is kind of a drag. I'd rather just see the hand-held 'shake' of the camera than the wavy distorted image.

THERE! I said it! I may be greedy and ungrateful, but that's what I want! (I'm sure those involved, made a decent recording, and that may be available some day. ;))

I streamed the Grisman Quintet set. One of the best sets of acoustic music you'd ever want to hear, most of the first 2 albums. Wyatt even played Devlin. Sorry I missed the Old and In the Way set.

Sam Bush paid a nice tribute to Vassar during the Old & in The Way set. Such an incredible weekend of music in an amazing setting. Wish it wasn’t another year away!

Rockygrass was stellar this year!
The DGQ set was stupendous! I've seen DGQ in several different combos over the years and this was just amazing to see & hear the reunion!
Wyatt Rice did a great job standing in for his brother.
All still such amazing musicians!
Thanks Dawg!

And Mike on his Loar! I’ve missed that.

Agreed! The music was so unique at the time, and it’s still as dynamic and timeless now. Remember how difficult it was to describe to people who hadn’t heard it?

The DGQ introduced a whole nation to the music of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli. And to have brought Grappelli on tour was a bonus. To me, that will be one of Dawg's greatest achievements.

I just don't know why he does 'Minor Swing' in Dm rather than the standard Am key.

He told a story about that at the show. He said he played it with Stephane Grappelli in Dm, sort of accidentally, the first time he met him. And played it AABA, instead of Grappelli's original ABAB, and Stephane played right along & that's how they did it from then on.

Well that explains it then. Thanks for posting that. It shows how flexible Grappelli was.
