Since nobody commented on it yet, here it is: Elderly is selling the whole Dopyera family collection of instruments (http://www.elderly.com/articles/dopyera) (or here, PDF (http://www.elderly.com/articles/dopyera/dopyera.pdf)). I think it's a little sad it's being sold. Hopefully it will go to a good museum or someone who will take good care of them and share them.

I agree, itīs sad to see this collection being sold and DEFINITELY it would deserve a place in some important museum.

Weird creatures, some of these! What on Earth is "lullabika"? Does anybody know how itīs tuned? Looks similar to that 6-string double-course (Ukrainian-style) balalaika -whatīs the difference?

curious,
Arto

I liked the fiddle, but they were all very cool.

Dad just got back from an annual Dobro gasthering. John D was there and Dad spoke to him at length. This subject never came up during the 3 day event. Odd eh?

Very odd. I was surprised to see such a huge sale being quietly advertised in Elderly's site, and nobody commenting on it here.

The fiddle is wonderful. The mandolins are interesting too.
