Geeze Neal - that's a great looking snakehead! You must like the A style ovals. Mighty nice work by Don. What material is the bridge top made from? Fossil Ivory?

Yes indeed Neal, that is a great looking mandolin.
I sure hope you enjoy that as much as I do my own sweet A2 from Pomeroy, I love the way it has tone outa the kazoo and a pleasure to pick.
Enjoy and give an update after you have had it in hand for a bit.

Congrats Neal! She's a looker for sure.
Looks like a slight radius to the fingerboard, or are the pics deceiving?
Anyone play a Pomeroy and Old Wave oval back to back to compare??

I'm in love....again.

Well thank you. Don's re-contouring the pickguard before he ships, and I can't wait.

!2" radius, larger frets, bridge top is bone. To tell the truth, I made no special tuner request, so I couldn't tell you what they are. But I can tell you again, that I can't wait for delivery.

Lucky for you Neal, I believe Don's stopped using those reverse tuners.

Congratulations Neal!

That is one great looking mandolin. I love the Gibson A inspired mandos that keep the little shoulder returns at the neck joint (I never know what to call those...). It looks especially good on a blacktop, and with a light or medium stained maple, where you have the back/rim wood in direct contrast to the top. I have to say too, that I love the straightsided snakehead headstock contour as well, and the unbound fret board. I have an old A-2 with a bound fretboard, and have always thought I would not get binding there if I ever ordered a mandolin like yours. Please show us the re-worked pickguard contour when you get it, and let us know how it plays.

Hi, sorry I haven't posted my complete review yet, will get to it soon, in the meantime----

Don is a great guy to work with, very understanding of the anal retentive mind, I should have it back in a few days.
The pickguard was one bone of contention for me and has been remedied, it was too half-oval, not contoured.
The sound wow'ed me. Very very nice. Very playable. Problems were purely minor cosmetics overlooked.

More to follow.
