I will be visiting family the last week of July and was wondering if there was any jams in the area; mainy during the week. I saw that the Good Deale shop has a jam on Friday's, but I will be travelling on that day. Any other pickins in VA/DC/MD?

The only jam on this list I can vouch for is the one in Lyon Park on the 1st and 3rd Sundays. I went once. A lot of people showed up, they played pretty fast. It seems to be kind of "clique-y," and not very newcomer friendly, IMHO, but there is a lot of pickin' going on.

i will be in for the month of july. not many days off though and i gotta stay close to my apt near chinatown.
i pick bluegrass, newgrass, some jazz and swing.
