Has anyone used or seen one of these (http://www.musiccompo.com/carbon-fiber-cases-mandolin/Mandolin-F-Shaped-Carbon-Fiber-Case-Natural)?

They say if supports 80kg without deformation, but I don't know what Hoffee and other brands claim.
Different options of colors, clasps, handles.

Here's how they describe themselves: "The company behind the "musiccompo" brand is High Gain Industrial Limited, a composite material specialist based in Hong Kong. Since 2005, we have been designing and producing musical instrument cases made of carbon fiber in an OEM role for many other brands in countries like Spain, Germany, Great Britain, USA, Japan, and Korea."

Seems too good to be true for the price. What am I missing? NFI

P.S. I went through some of the order process to find shipping. $80 shipping to NC.

Hello Phil,
These look pretty nice in the pics shown. They really have my curiosity piqued! I am soon to have a new mandolin built and would like to have it very well protected. I would love to lay hands and eyes on one personally to see how strong they are.
Interestingly enough, the Bobelock cases currently available are $260.00, plus shipping from wherever they would be purchased. It will be cool to see if anyone has seen one in person, and to get their feedback.
Thanks so much for posting this, and for helping us all see what else is available!!

I remember looking at these a while ago, I think here on the Cafe. Almost ordered one, but didn't like that it held the body by pressure on the bridge, like most. I would prefer holding the body by pressure on the tailpiece like the Weber case so I didn't order one. At that time Weber would not sell a case separately, I don't know if that has changed now or not.

Looks like the padding might touch the body but not the bridge. I like that they come in white. Who's going to get one?

Don, looks to me like the diamond on the top of the lid would be pressing on the bridge, not the body. I could be wrong, would like to see one in person or talk to someone who has one.

I'm not seeing the diamond?

It definitely looks like the pads are only on the body either side of the bridge in that pic Don.

Yep I see what you mean there pops1.

They do look tempting at that price, but I’d probably go for an f model even for an A due to the pad positions.

I started a thread on those cases about a year ago:https://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/showthread.php?128115-Music-Compo-Cases
I own one of those. Of course, they are not as sturdy as Caltons, Pegasus, Price and the like. But they are light weight and small, and they fit into most any overhead bin on planes. Major disadvantage is that they didn't expect a mandolin to have a pick guard. It somehow fits, but there's a little pressure on the pg bracket.

Any idea if their A model case would fit a vintage, short neck Gibson oval?

Great review of these last year, Henry. I either missed it or forgot it. :whistling:
Thank you for reminding us and providing the link and comments.

Consider Asking? Send them measurements and see what their reply is..

Active vs Passive..

Thanks but I have asked already. I have my doubts that I will get an answer that will address the headstock being closer to the body - no sure what measurement I would ask for there - but I was hoping someone here actually had experience with that first hand.

Interesting find yesterday. While in Dallas I was able to visit Charlie’s Guitar’s. They have an amazing ‘94 Bill Monroe mandolin. Number 125.
What I found very interesting was the case and how it held the mandolin in the case. The factory case pushes directly on the bridge. Srange that this would be the case. (Pun intended)
So glad there have been ones who realised the problems with this and have started making cases with different stabilization.
