Acclimation from north to south

I am buying a used mandolin from a northern cold state and it is shipping to me in Florida. How long should I allow it to acclimate to the change before bringing it to full tuning? Is the time during shipping and out on the truck for delivery enough or should I allow it to sit in the open case an hour or so first? Thanks for your input. Russ

Wait till the box it came in gets up to room temperature, then take the case out and wait till it is warm to the touch. When it feels warm then you can open the case and see if the mando his warm to the touch. If it is then tune her up and enjoy.

Thanks George. I imagine after being on a postal truck for the day in Florida, the box et al,will probably be warm upon arrival. I don't think I will have to wait too long and prolong my anticipation. Russ
