Can someone explain what the different types if bracing does to affect the sound of a mando and what type does a Kentucky KM1500 have? Robert Fear, where are you?

Km1500 has tone bars. How pleasing the tone is is a function of the player, pick and strings, beyond the wood and assembly.

If it sounds good, it good, no matter what.

Hi Tom,

I pretty much agree with Bill here. The bracing can be used to influence how a top responds, but in the end it all works together and a top without bracing, or X bracing, or whatever, can be carved differently and ultimately have the same (or entirely different) results.

Ha, what a way to completely dodge the question! :) But really, it is a small factor. So in the case of the KM-1500, there are parallel tone bars (normally associated with emphasizing mids) . The end result of all things combined nail the standard bluegrass tone quite well.
