There were some mandolins I was looking for with my limited experience, and saw this one Weber Y2K6 on Ebay (https://www.ebay.com/itm/272992274132?ul_noapp=true) for $599 with a $850 buy out. Send an email to the seller and he said this mandolin could be heard in the free song over at The Getaway Drivers (https://www.getawaydrivers.net/) song, Son of Cain.

Had contemplated the Y2K6 since it is a Weber, though it was probably heavily used. Instead I went and ordered the Kentucky 272 from Everly - even though Everly has had to backorder it.

Looks as though no one bid on the Weber Y2K6 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/Weber-Mandolin-model-Y2K6-Sound-to-Earth-series-handcrafted-in-Logan-Montana/273001091591?hash=item3f90221207:g:V-EAAOSw5dlaPDQc) and the owner relisted it. Now if hew would of had this price to begin with I would of probably bought it. Now it is listed at $349 with a buyout of $479.

But I'm already obligated to buy the Kentucky 272 from Elderly. Argh!

This is going to sting. Hope this is a good starter (and beyond) mandolin

Contacted Elderly via their in-house contact form to cancel the backorder, although was already billed for the Kentucky 272. Will have to call them when I wake up.

Trust me - you did the correct thing here. IMO, that's a fantastic price on an excellent instrument. Wow. That definitely outshines my deal from a couple weeks ago.

Congrats. You are going to enjoy this one a lot.

Yes, I brought it before it got away. :) Elderly was kind enough to cancel the backorder. /whew!

What also was weird, I got an email from Sweetwater for a no-charge order... :)

Those are actually nice mandolins. I had a friend that had one a few years ago. They pretty much sing.

I think you did right here - you'll get a lot of mileage out of that Weber! I had a Weber flat top oval mandolin when I was starting out (an Aspen II) and it was so easy to play and rang like a bell, made me want to play it all the time!

Now stop looking at the classifieds. Or catalogues. Or pretty much anything, actually. You'll only want more. But in the end, I'm a happy Weber owner, and I'm sure you will be, too.

Not always. The day I had committed in my mind to buy a brand new Collings MT, I decided to try the classifieds one more time for one of the short list mandolins I was looking for. There was my Silverangel. Saved over a grand and am very happy.
