Anyone know of a store on the east coast that mighty carry a Pono Octave? I am very interested but really want to play one before I commit the money.

Pono has very few dealers. Their business model is direct sales. What they offer is no questions asked return policy. The Mandolin Store in Arizona had one there. What struck me the most is it was analogous to the tonal differences between arched top mandolins and flat tops. You won't get that attack/decay sound an arch top gives. I have three Pono instruments, two guitars and a Uke. They are very well made. If you like the sound clips, you probably will like the Pono.
