I just threw some shellac on the back of my latest to see what it might look like. I hope thew picture shows the three different colors. Fades from red to brown to yellow and back again. What is the species of that wood, boboshoes?

That would be Claro Walnut Spruce. Harder than any maple I've come across. I was figuring it to be a lot easier to carve but I was fooled. If I ever need to carve a mandolin out of granite I'll be ready though. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
