A real oldie. I did this lesson over 10 years ago It’s all improvised blues and attempts to demonstrate how to highlight the 3rd and 7th of the chord of the moment to “play the changes”.

I've written a few blues tunes but this is just improvising. A student had brought his new (old) Gibson A model for me to check out. That's who I'm talking to at the beginning & the end.

Nice one! Can you provide the backing track?

Nice one! Can you provide the backing track?

Here's the guitar and (synthetic) drum tracks. The mando chop was a little too choppy, so I dropped it.

If you download it or otherwise record a copy, please let me know. I'll take it down since my Soundcloud page is getting pretty full.

If I redo the chop or add bass, I'll post it again here.

Thanks Dave! Got it downloaded.

I'll leave it up for a few days since I have nothing new to put on Soundcloud. Maybe I'll redo some tracks as mentioned above.

Two backing tracks, both with the same tempo and similar drums. Feel free to use them if you wish. :) :mandosmiley:

This is pretty much the chords for Sittin' on the Top of the World in G (my favorite key!) with a T-Bone type intro. (The mysterious ninth bar is the turnaround.)

The previous one with bass and mando.

Hey Dave!
I gave your foo back a try!
It was lots of fun jamming to that track. Time really flies by. I probably took about 7 or 8 takes and then let it be. I still have a lot to learn but I aint afraid of mistakes (hearable innit :mandosmiley::whistling::grin:)

Hoping the way I tagged/commented on it is alright by you. Please let me know if I should change anything or if you refuse to be named or if you don't like that I used your backing track.

Sincerely,
Wolfgang

The nine bar was cool. I love odd structures.

Thanks for using the track. Good job of following the changes, which are not the standard 12-bar thing!

Thanks to all for listening to and using the backing tracks. The number of listens is dropping, so I'll take them down on Monday.

Here's what I made of it - vocal and solos added. There's not much mandolin, but the first solo is electric mando.
