I didn't see a corresponding thread for this front-page news posting, so sorry for starting one here:

Anyway, I just wanted to say that referring to Lebrecht as "respected" is, well, a stretch. I think many in the world of classical music would refer to him as a well-paid troll. Of course, ymmv. :cool:

First I'd heard of Lebrecht. He seems a little grumpy towards Thile etc:


"[Mandolin] sits more comfortably in a Bach score than, say, a tenor sax, but that does not make it remotely authentic."

Wonder what Bach himself would say, if he was in a time-warp and dropped in one of these modern interpretations of his work? Would Bach possibly say something like:


"Oh thank the stars you're doing something new with that." :grin: :mandosmiley:
