I purchased a package of the M150 with the handy little case. They do have a nice feel to them. My question is about the beveling on the edges. If you start out with the bevel facing down, you only have a flat surface on the pick to strick with on the upstroke. Most other picks have a radius on both sides. With these they play like butter one way, the other way, not so much. Am I missing something here?

My Wegen picks are beveled on the left side of both sides. In other words, look at the pick with the point up. The bevel for a right handed pick is on the left side. If you flip over the pick then you'll also see the bevel on the left side. So my Wegen picks are certainly beveled on both sides and they glide in both directions.

Are you turning your pick differently on the down strokes from the up strokes?

The Bevel is on the down side of the pick so when angled forward you get a broader flatter surface. The idea is from Wegens Gypsy jazz picks which he has been making for years , the can only be played one way with their grip design . In Gypsy jazz the right hand technique is mainly downstrokes.. Never really noticed a problem on upstrokes with the wegen but I will making a note of what you mentioned next time I play.

Taking another look at my picks here. Every other point on the pick, rotating on the other side, is infact beveled. I am used to picking with the point of the pick. With these, do you use less of the point and more of side or edge? For example, downstroke use more of the pick that is closer to the instrument, and upstroke turn the pick slightly counterclockwise? This would provide you with a bevel for either direction. Otherwise, if you use the bevel against the downstroke, directly on top of the bevel, (the part you would use for the upstroke) is flat. Sorry, but I guess I need help even with picks! I just want to get the most out of 'em!

The M150s are clearly beveled on both "heads" and "tails" side, on the "counterclockwise" edge of each "point" (for "right-handed" models), so yes there's a bevel for an upstroke or downstroke while using the "point" (as you should)...just try it for a minute and I'm sure you'll figure it out eventually...

..just got one in the mail from Greg Boyd...so far, so good...I like it. Its the closest thing to real shell I think I have ever found..even has the same "clink" when you drop it on the table...hmm..I wonder if its left hand or right hand.... http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I just a got one of the new Tortis picks today...looks and feels just like my real TS pick....can't wait to try it out....

I had some Wegens but ended up trading/donating them off to other folks. They were nice but something just didn't appeal to me.
