Fwiw, my recommendation is to NOT use mind-altering substances whilst engaged in changing strings - you'll definitely need your linear/rational brain for it.
Otoh, maybe several pokes and an hour-and-a-half later ... the experience may be worth it - turning the mundane into an epic journey. .
