When I study this instrument everything goes against conventional wisdom, the top is thick, the tone bars are horizontal, above and below f holes more or less braces, the finish is thick, but it sounds GREAT!!, how'd they do that? This has been my best spent money on any mandolin. It is all solid woods and from peeking inside it appears to be carved, there is no brace on the back like other pressed back mandolins I have seen.

I recall Russ Barenberg years ago playing a Strad-O-Lin but it was prob the highest model they made, with very flamed maple etc. I don't think I have seen another, since. He made it sing, tho.

Paul Prestopino who plays with the New England dance music group Hold The Mustard and has been a backup musician for Peter, Paul, and Mary for many years (that's him on Puff the Magic Dragon on their Peter, Paul, and Mommy album) has played a Strad-O-Lin for decades.
