I was making a pickguard today for a friend of mines Collings F style out of Arizona desert Ironwood. I noticed that my nose burns tonight and my face feels like I got a sunburn. Anybody ever experience the same working with that super hard wood?

Sounds like contact dermatitis, I got it from bolivian rosewood (morado) the second (and last time) I used it, starting to develop the same with ebony but now using a biohazard suit for fretboard preparation. Your dermatologist can give you a cream for it, mine told me my face skin was replacing itself every 3 days instead of every 28!

Cocobolo will really make you break out in the folds of your arms and over your eyelids, any little crevices the dust can get in.

I think any wood is toxic to a point. I have had different people tell me different woods affect them different ways. I know from experience Poplar burns my skin especially in the summer time. Ebony bothers me also, although not as bad as the Poplar.

Keep on Pickin'
