I'm a big fan of Mike Kemnitzer's work, and wonder if any Nugget owners would be willing to share some pics. #I'd also be very interested in any opinions about Nugget versus Gilchrist mandolins in terms of tone, workmanship, playability, etc.

Over the years I have had the wonderful chance to play a few great mandolins. But I must say that the two Nuggets that I have played were the best I have ever played anywhere, anytime, anyplace. Playing them (both F5 types) was even more wonderful and special than the Loar I got to play about 15 years ago. It is just hard to explain but the Nugget is like no other mandolin to me anyway. I've seen the Nugget pictures on the Mandolin Archive. There are 24 instruments listed and pictured out of approx. 250. I was hoping to coax a few more owners to post pics of their "babies".

Cool how Mike has involved the truss rod cover in the Torch & Wire inlay:

That mando belongs to an old friend of mine from Alaska, I believe. I played it about 20 years ago and have compared every mandolin I've played since to that one. I couldn't believe what I was hearing and feeling. Like a grand piano....

One day if I ever win the lotto I'll own a Nugget, man those things are nice. Tim O'Brien's my fav and his #2 nugget is second to none (well 2nd to the #1 nugget) as far as I'm concerned.
