Fabritio Caroso: "Nobiltà di Dame" (1600)
1. Alta Regina (Cascarda) - 0:00
2. Nuova Regina (Balletto) - 0:43
These are two Italian renaissance dances, the first two dances in the collection "Nobiltà di Dame" by Caroso, an update on his earlier "Il Ballarino". A full facsimile of the book (from which I have taken the illustrations for the video) is at:

As the tunes are clearly related and in the same time signature, I have combined them into one single tune played without gap. My recording is a duet of mandolin and octave mandolin, based on the duo arrangements by Steve Hendricks at:

1890s Umberto Ceccherini mandolin
Mid-Missouri M-111 octave mandolin
