Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741): Concerto for Oboe and Violin, Op. 7, RV 548
II. Largo
Arranged for two mandolins and mandocello.

This slow movement from Vivaldi's oboe and violin double concerto in Bb Major works very nicely as a mandolin duet. In this movement, the ripieno is silent, except for a very simple continuo rhythm, which I am playing on mandocello. I got the inspiration to play this on mandolin from a wonderful live performance of this piece by Jacob Reuven on mandolin with Barak Tal on violin, discussed and linked in the classical forum here (http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/showthread.php?128336-Vivaldi-Concerto-for-Violin-and-Mandolin).

Score and parts at IMSLP:

All instruments played by me:

Oboe solo part: 1890s Umberto Ceccherini mandolin
Violin solo part: 1915 Luigi Embergher mandolin
Basso continuo: Suzuki MC-815 mandocello
