Very cool! Years ago I had the pleasure of visiting Lynn's shop and I was so impressed by what a kind person he is. I've played a handful of his mandolins and guitars and they've all been stellar

You Americans did it again. Why do I fall for this trap over and over?
All these years I thought Lynn was a woman's name... :crying::redface:

Hah I love it!

Wife: Lynn, I want a dulcimer.

Lynn: Absolutely honey. Now if you can just let me buy about 50 to $60,000 worth of machinery and build a workshop I'll definitely build that dulcimer for you.

How do you avoid awkward situations? As when meeting for the first time after exchanging business emails, frantically hiding your astonishment.

With a chuckle, and talking about it openly. "I never met a man named ____ until now." A smile, a handshake. Helps being named Robin, I suppose. Anyone with an ambiguous name knows that it is. If you are surprised, no problem. If you are embarrassed, then it's awkward.

I knew a LaVern. Luckily for us he went by the nickname "Vern."

I hadn't seen that. Really good. And it explains how, or at least makes it plausible to the layman, how over the top workmanship can really be accomplished.

Lynn has a good, straightforward approach, no gimmicks. To him, it is based on classic design, wood choice, and measurements. And getting it perfect. He enjoys all the steps in the process equally.
