Hi everyone.

Well I took a break from mandolin for a year off, sold my KM900, and now I miss playing.

I'll be placing an order soon for a custom Crystal Forest flattop with some of the specs as follows..

California redwood top
Red curly maple back/side/neck
Ebony fretboard (flat)
Top/neck/headstock bound in white binding
Top finished in black
Back/sides/back of neck stained a rich brown

I'm excited to start playing again and being in Austin.

Hope everyone has been well here!

Welcome back, Joey! As a Texan just curious: Did you just move to Austin, or just coming back to Austin after the year off? Great place for a musician to be.

Funny you ask. I was born in TX, but grew up in CA.. it just took me 31 years to get back.

Joey, since you're in Austin, have you been to Fiddler's Green?

Hope I haven't missed much.

I can summarize the last year:

1. 147 threads about why Blue Chip picks are wonderful and will change your life.
2. 19 threads about what is the best mandolin under $500?
3. 11 threads about what is the best mandolin under $1000?
4. 2 threads about why Lloyd Loar's are expensive...
5. 147 threads about how great Chris Thile is.
6. 1 or 2 about how great Bill Monroe is. :disbelief:
7. 1 thread about how to put a strap on an A style mandolin.
8. 2 threads about $800 mandolin cases. :whistling:
9. 4 threads about A style vs F style.
10. 22 threads about found this old mandolin under the bed, what is it and is it worth anything?
11. 14 threads about what strings do you recommend for ......
12. and, drum roll please, the Traveling Pick Sampler continues!!! :))

Probably a few other topics, but you get the idea -- good clean fun! Welcome back, Joey!

No, not yet anyway! I might head over this weekend. They have a great selection after looking on their website.

Jeff, You forgot to mention the 325 posts about a $199.00 MK mandolin....

BTW...I just got back from letting a broken hand heal up for three weeks, I don`t know how anyone could stay away for a year without going crazy...

And who could forget the novel, "The Search Continues..."
A thread of about 4,432,564,534 pages full of riveting insights.

(It's actually an entertaining study. )

Jeff,
Could you send me an upgraded copy of this about every 6 months or so?
It would save me a lot of time. :)) ;)
