Can you explain what chords are using the roman numerals ie iv 4v etc

"I" or "1" is always the root chord of the major scale. So if you are in the key of "G major" it would be the G major chord. "IV" is the 4th, or subdominant chord and "V" is the 5th, or dominant chord. In the key of G, That would be C and D. When the chord is shown in lowercase, like "vi" that generally indicates a minor chord. I the key of G, that would be the 6th chord, Em. Different people have a different take on that notation, though, it is not always hard and fast.
