Hi All:

I'm new to the Mandolin, new to the Cafe and hopelessly lost when it comes to attaching pictures. I've finally got a couple shots of my mando, but can't quite figure how to attach them to a post. I've used the search function seeking help with this, but am probably doing that wrong as well. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much,

Rob

All right, I admit it, I don't know a thing about computers, but this can't be that #&$* difficult (or can it). I've browsed, located the JPEG, hit open and then add post and POOF!!! After several seconds, I either get a somewhat empty looking Cafe page or get dumped into the builders section.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Rob:

I am no expert either and I have had similar problems. It generally seems due to the photo being over the Cafe's size limit, which is listed as 102,400 bytes. A JPEG can easily go over that. If you have a photo editing program, like MS photo editor (it may have come loaded on your computer), you can resize the photo by changing it to a bitmap (.bmp), cropping the photo, changing the resolution or some combination of those.

As my friend from the Navy, who was an intel officer, used to say, "Now I've told you more than I know!"

FYI, I have tried your instructions for pix posted on ############. I always get an error message saying the pic title is not formatted properly, but tinypic assigns that and I can't change it. Any suggestions?

I've always used www.photobucket.com and upload my photos to it and then copy the image URL and paste it into the reply section. No problems so far.

Hiya!

I think the problem might reside with the cafe interface, where the posting engine refuses to accept a picture URL that does not finish with a known image extension, such as .gif or .jpg

Only suggestion: as csstanley mentionned, use www.photobucket.com (http://www.photobucket.com)... Same type of service (need registration though), but leaves the file extension.

Cheers

Germain
