Super! When you're quoted you sound just like jflynnstl!

The location reminds me of how I met my most-faithful music buddy, who just happened to see me picking on the porch and stopped to check it out. Over twenty years ago.

Thanks for sharing. -- Paul

Forget Johnny - who's Ellen Gomez http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif= sorry it's the vodka speaking BTW, a great drink I discovered - a little absolute vodka , some sweet and sour apple , and some lemon sour, and presto - just like magic - In moderation of course..

Glad you asked. In addition to being an art teacher as described in the article, Ellen Gomez is a great singer/songwriter who has a wonderful CD out. NFI, but you can learn about it here:

FWIW, they used a picture of me in the printed version of this article, which I only got my hands on today. Here is a scan:

Why thank you sir, I'm flattered that you think so. Come to think of it, the neck on my Old Wave is red also. How apropos!

Heh, given the photo composition and those s'penders, looks like you've got the world's most elaborate mandolin suspension system going on. Don't want to drop that Old Wave, now... http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Sounds like there's lots of good stuff going on 'round those parts. Makes an ol' U. City boy kinda homesick.

LOL, Phil, it really does. I didn't think about that when I was getting dressed that day. What I really want, and actually a guitar player buddy of mine is going to give me, is that suspension system that ZZ Top uses that allows you to spin the instrument like a propeller. My buddy has one that he got out of a sale bin at a music store and he is getting ready move and was going throw it out. It should be a hit with the old-time crowd, don't you think?
