Luiz Bonfá: "Manhã de Carnaval"
From the movie "Black Orpheus" (1959)
This is the principal theme (and most famous tune) from the soundtrack of the 1959 Brazilian movie "Black Orpheus" ("Orfeu Negro"). It has since then become a bossa nova classic, with dozens of cover versions.
My recording on mandolin, with tenor guitar backing, is based on an arrangement by Larry Kolse available in Tabledit format from the Mandozine site:
http://www.mandozine.com/music/tabledit_files/ManhadeCarnaval1-Am.tef
Mid-Missouri M-0W mandolin
Vintage Viaten tenor guitar
I tried uploading this to Youtube, but it has been blocked by the copyright holder -- strangely so, as there are dozens of other cover versions on the site. So, I'm attaching it as an MP3 instead.
