Last week or so I finally got around to working out a transcription of Nancy's mando and Norman's guitar on Hangin' Dog as performed live in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_I_hmwUMHzE

I've been taken with watching this for quite a while, and now that I've taken time to study what Nancy's doing there, I've been taken with trying to play it. I'm having trouble finding a guitar player to work with on it, but I hope someday to be able to do this music justice.

Here is a video recorded today showing my progress on this tune.

My TAB and notation, by way of Tabledit (TEF file) is listed here at the cafe under Learn/Listen . . . Also, an updated version that contains Norman's rhythm guitar part is available at my website here: http://www.markgunter.net/good_stuff/16/lyrics-tabs-song-charts

I estimate that I'm playing at about 70% of Nancy's speed in this video.

Thanks Perry! And yeah, I know what you're saying about N & N, hope I'm not coming off as though I think I'll ever play like Nancy here, I just hope to be able to do the tune justice someday in my own way . . . it's fun to learn and fun to share for me ;) :mandosmiley:

If you get down and study Nancy's playing there, the nuance is incredible in her playing.

Great work. I think the slower pace suits this tune and makes it even bluesier. Just downloaded the tef file and I'll be working on it this weekend - thanks!

Nice playing and a nice sounding mandolin you have there Mark. I haven't listened to the original recording yet, but I liked what I heard from you. :)

Thanks Rob, I highly recommend watching the original, it's great stuff.

BTW, I like your version of Windy and Warm, and on the mando, Somewhere Over The Rainbow. Do you have written music for the latter?

Thank you Mark. I did listen to the Nancy and Norman video after replying to your post, it was really enjoyable. When I recorded that version of Over the Rainbow, I did not have any music, I simply tried to emulate what John Reischman played, however, a cafe member did sent me the music later (I believe John gave to him after a class), I can email it on if you like (assuming it is ok to distribute).
