What is the exact name of the wood used for the neck and back?
Thanks

OUTSTANDING!!!

I would be most interested in a description of your binding technique. #I am very attracted to the notion of binding with wood vs plastic (always use wood on guitars) but the extreme corners and turns on an "F" leave me baffled as to HOW one can accomplish that ... obviously you have conqured that little 'issue' and I would be most appreciative for any insight you can offer.

Geeze thats a really sweet mandolin. If it sounds half as good as it looks you have a winner! Nice Job!!!

Thanks for all the kind words. I'll get a few more shots posted when finished. As far as the wood bindings it's just something I like to do. It's almost the most difficult part of the whole mandolin. I know no secrets to bending and using wood binding other than patience and I like to use a soldering iron to bend it with.

I would have to say it is for sale. I've been trying to build one for myself for the last few years but someone always seems to want it more than me. I build one at a time and take my time doing it. It's hard to learn to play when you can't seem to keep one.

Here's a few more shots, it's almost done!

It is sad when you get mandolin envy from an 8 year old thread. Any word on how this beauty sounded?

As a complete novice, I ran across the Breedlove Blonde Mandolins (http://breedlovemusic.com/mandolins/american-series-mandolins/ff) recently. I think they look nice. Playing and sound is a subject best left to the experts.
