Franz Schubert (1797-1828): Serenade ("Ständchen")
From: "Schwanengesang", D.957, No. 4
Arranged by Jim Hulley
This is an arrangement of Schubert's Serenade for fretted instrument quartet, taken from the repertoire folder of our group. Jim Hulley arranged many of the compulsory competition pieces for the BMG rallies in the 1970s/80s, and I suspect this arrangement was one of them. I don't have the mandola part (and suspect it largely mirrors the second mandolin), so my recording is a trio of two mandolins and tenor guitar.
1890s Umberto Ceccherini mandolin
1915 Luigi Embergher mandolin
Vintage Viaten tenor guitar
