Since just the name Lloyd Loar is pretty special to us all here I thought that it might be interesting to post and see others post pics of our famous Lloyd Loar. Feel free to post some and or enlighten us if you like :) I know most of these have been viewed already but here's a few to start that I like.

I know there are more, I don't have them but, I KNOW it!
It's pretty cool to have the ones you have all in one spot, thanks.

Here's a picture of Lloyd Loar's bowling scores from the autumn of 1921....;)

We've shared this link many times over the years but if you want to see some amazing historical content, plenty of it with Lloyd Loar and the Fisher Shipp Concert Company photographs a bunch of them are housed in the Univ. of Iowa Traveling Culture database (http://digital.lib.uiowa.edu/cdm/search/collection/tc/searchterm/lloyd%20loar/field/all/mode/all/conn/and/cosuppress/), a wealth of all kinds of information. Always fun to share this link. Possible they've added more content since last posting in 2013.

The largest copy of Loar at his bench at Gibson I can find is in this (http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/showthread.php?41826-Loar-era-gibson-f-4) thread. If anyone knows of a larger copy please post a link or the image.

Scott posted this one to the homepage.

At a glance I thought someone had found some Lloyd Loar picks, extremely high quality and possibly very pricey, the ne plus ultra of refinement in the field of pick technology. Imagine my disappointment. :(

These are quite enjoyable in their own right, of course.

Anyway, here's a larger version of the one Mike mentioned, and another.

Now who's that? Certainly not LL. But the mando sure is an original F5. It's most interesting, since there is no pick guard, and the mando seems really worn. Given that the picture is quite old, this F5 may well be one of those mysterious "sent-back-to-the-factory-for-refinish" cases.

The poster I have of the Gibsonian Orchestra uses the photo you posted as an insert.

I dunno. It's from this blog (http://uniqueguitar.blogspot.com/2016/02/lloyd-loar-master-luthier-creator-of.html), which is not necessarily a verifiable source. But all the other photos there correspond with our collection. The hair's different, but the photo looks to be from a bit later.

Here are two more, from Roger Siminoff's website. (http://siminoff.net/loar-background/) He's the older lad in the family photo, age 10 or 11.

I really like this blow-up detail of his workbench. See the page for an analysis (http://siminoff.net/loar-workbench/). Nicely done!

Not only the hair is different, I'd say all is different, especially the ears. And looking at the F5, the missing finger rest is not at all loarish.
The blog, your source, mentions Loar as a master luthier, which he apparently was not. Though he sure was a talented musician and tinkerer, and a scientist to some degree.

Lost in the crowd. Number 7 (Lower panorama, first row, fourth from left, if you blow up the thumbnail).

Nope, that's not LL. Some random F5 owner from the period..

Hint: He sang 'Cattle Call' and 'Make the World Go Away'. (Never knew he played the mandolin though.);)

That's Eddie Arnold?! Dang, I guess it does look like him, though.

That's fine. I know just a little about this, but I'm curious to learn more. My skills in this quest are in searching; I present what I find for others who know more to determine what's what. I'm willing to play the fool, if it helps find the wisdom of truth. ;)

Yes...Just a silly joke. I kinda thought he resembled Eddy Arnold.
I hated to think of the poor guy as just "some random F5 owner". From now on, he'll be known to me as Eddy Loar, the Kalamazoo Plowboy.

JB! You know plenty, don't sell yourself short! You are an instigator of thought and conversation here but, I have no problem with that at all!

Nice to see all these photos of Loar. I doubt there are too many more. Anyone up to starting a photo thread on the Master of the Mandolin, Dave Apollon?

But, I don't have any Dave Appolon pictures to start it with! Sorry.
I know some are out there, I've seen them.
I find these photo threads really fun to be honest.
