This pirated from Ahlert & Schwab's site (http://www.ahlert-schwab.de/index2eng.htm):

New York Premiere
We are very glad to continue our collaboration with US composer Geoffrey Gordon by having the chance of performing his composition "Interiors of a Courtyard", which he had dedicated to us on occasion of our first US tour last year, as part of his portrait concert at Greenwich House in New York on March 11th. The day before we will already be guests at WNYC radio.

If you go, please offer the duo my greetings (and let us know what you think).

Ah 3/11... morning at the arts management day-job, afternoon concert, late evening rehearsal... the mantra continues. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Any others? Jim?

I guess Ahlert and Schwab want us to work for our concerts. I found the Greenwich House (http://www.gharts.org/nrmconcerts03-04.html) site with the info for the concert:

8pm $15 general admission $10 students & seniors

Geoffrey Gordon, Composer
New York Premiere: wrecked angels

On Thursday, March 11 at 8pm, Gordon presents the New York premiere of "wrecked angels" and recent solo and chamber works. Special guest artists include L’Ensemble Portique, Duo Ahlert & Schwab of Germany, Lina Bahn, violinist from the Corigliano Quartet; Toyin Spellman, oboist from the Imani Winds. The works being presented this evening reflect inspiration from the literary and visual arts. Originally, Gordon’s "Stanza della Segnatura" was to be premiered by the UK-based Passacaglia. Due to unforseen circumstances, the chamber ensemble will regretfully be unavailable to give the work its New York premiere.

I can't find the broadcast on Wednesday which I would listen to. I emailed Ahlert a & Schwab to see if they know.

I heard from Ahlert and Schwab:
thanks for your interest! The broadcast will start at 2 p.m. . We will play
two short pieces and have an interview.
This would be on March 10 on WNYC which could also be heard streaming at wnyc.org

Did anybody attend or hear the broadcast? I'm keen for word.

You can still hear the whole show on wnyc.org. The show is Soundcheck (http://www.wnyc.org/shows/soundcheck/episodes/03102004) and their "episode" is called "Lord of the Strings."

Scroll to about 27:00 in the show to hear the segment with Ahlert and Schwab.

T'ank ye, Jim. I assume you couldn't make the performance?

No, Eugene, I am swamped with non-mandolin work (ugh!). I wonder if anyone on the list did, tho. Victor?

I have to say, after listening to the whole segment, that John Schaefer was a little on the condescending side about the mandolin. Then again, maybe I am overly sensitive to our beloved instrument.

[QUOTE]"John Schaefer was a little on the condescending side about the mandolin."

http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif Aren't they all? Fools, my dear friends, fools...

But no, Jim, I did not make it either; once again, tethered to the bass, the gigs... Some day (I keep telling myself) I will slow down. When, dunno...

This past Saturday night I was rejoicing at the thought of attending a friend's recital next Sunday, 3/21. I check my e-mail only to find a recording contract for that same day, three sessions: 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon, 1:00-4:00 p.m., AND 6:00-9:00 p.m. *sigh*
