Hello,
Have a Loar 600 inbound and I am really not a huge fan of that foam The Loar case. Lots of wasted space there and would really prefer a smaller hard shell case. I wanted to know if anyone could tell if a general F shaped case would be appropriate for that model or if it has funky dimensions that might impinge my Cumberland bridge?

Any specific recommendations?

My lm600 is in a made in Canada Gibson case. This would not work if you used a tone-gard. I have a gator abs case that fits the loar (and other similarly shaped mandolins) more loosely that accommodates the tone-gard.

I really like the Superior cases, good value. I had a Kentucky 1050 with a Cumberland bridge and tone guard and it fit fine, plenty of room. How it would fit a Loar 600? You might contact one of the site sponsors as they should know.

I like FG cases*. Eastman has good ones .. now their 1 fits F4 short neck & F5 longer neck
& A 4&5 as well.

* have an A5 only case.. The backpack carry straps don't appear on any Wooden cases,
you have to carry them By the Handle.

Any specific recommendations? When I ordered my 520 from Folkmusician I asked for a better case. They gave me this: https://www.folkmusician.com/collections/mandolin-cases/products/f-model-mandolin-hardshell-case

As the Loar 520 is the same size and shape as your 600 it should work.

The MG cases are great for the price point but I think you get what you pay for with the latches. Still, mine (A style) held up while I had it and it fit a tone-gard, armrest, strap, and snark.

Al, how is the space in the F style!

Musician's Gear F-Style can also accommodate add-ons.
I wouldn't spend more on a case unless you're going with a fiberglass one. Then I like the Bobelock case, but $250! Seems a bit much for a $700 mandolin. Still, a nice fiberglass case is an investment that you can use for future mandolins as well.
Eastman Fiberglass cases are also good. Hard to find in stock, but looks like TWS has one and $160

I must express some concern about Musicians Gear cases. I got one for my Rover but the top was so tight I was afraid it was going to collapse it's top. I ended up with an inexpensive durafoam case with plenty of room.
