Hey, I just saw this! I've been working in the Florence area (well, actually Lawrenceburg - doing some archaeology for the Argosy Casino people), and this sounds pretty cool.

Wanted to ask a couple quick questions, though.

1) I'm only 28; am I going to be completely out of place if I show up there? Not that I'm exactly intimidated by older people. It's the older people who are really good...

2) What are a few of the tunes you guys often do. I'm what you might call an intermediate player, but as far as bluegrass standards go, I don't know any of them but Blackberry Blossom. I can usually pick up the gist of a tune after about a verse/chorus, but sometimes it can take longer at these jams where everybody's playing loudly.

Hey Kid

You'll not have a problem feeling out of place. Ages go from teens to almost 80. Blackberry Blossom is one we don't play too much, but if you call it someone will follow with you. We have a good time, come on over. The jam is the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays, start about 6 PM. The 2nd Tuesday is Pickin' - Singin' and dinner on the ground (no charge). If you're not doing anything Saturday, come to our session in Hebron at the Masonic Lodge. Hebron exit off I-275, turn right, go about 1.5 miles to highway 20 and turn left, go about a quarter mile on the right. The lodge is right next to a large funeral home, you can't miss it.

I don't know what kind of archeology you're doing, but I used to take my kids arrow point hunting along the river on the flat plain in Rising Sun. Great arrow head hunting.

Hope to see you at one or all of our jams. My name is Tom Murphy.
